“Surrender”… This is the old Cheap Trick song. A friend asked me to join a band playing classic rock hits country style. We called it the Malaprop Zion Orchestra. It was very short lived but for some reason this song stuck with me and I’ve played it ever since.
Surrender
1. Mama told me, yes, she told me I'd meet girls like you.
She also told me, "Stay away, you never know what you'll catch."
Just the other day I heard of a soldier’s falling off
Some Indonesian junk that's going round.
Chorus… Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
2. Daddy said, "Your momma's right, she's really up on things."
"Before we married, Momma served with the WACS in the Philippines."
Now, I had heard the WACS recruited old maids for the war.
But momma isn't one of them, I've known her all these years.
Chorus… Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
(Solo)
Chorus… Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
3. Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Ev'ry time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch.
Rock and rolling, Rolling numbers got my Kiss records out.
Chorus… Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
