Second Hand Cares

“Second Hand Cares”… I think it’s one of the great tragedies in life to have someone you care about and not show them on a regular basis. It’s like the old saying “you don’t miss your water ‘til the well runs dry”. That thing dries up and you’re gonna be hurtin’.
Second Hand Cares

1. She’s been like a fish, out of water
Wishin’ that she’d never ever taken his bait
And those little lessons, that he taught her
She said they really sealed his fate
He thought he had her hook, line and sinker
But he tried to reel her in too late

2. Now he’s looking like a deer, in the headlights
Smokin’ like a gun, at a crime scene
Drinkin’ like there ain’t no tomorrow night
Shakin’ his head and sayin’ it’s all a bad dream
He thought he was the pig that grew wings
But it turned out things ain’t what they seem

Chorus… Then he woke up,
and it was her world, now he’s wide eyed
Smellin’ that coffee wishin’ he could take back the things he said
And he stares into his cup,
But he don’t see that girl, no matter how he tries
Now she says she’d rather be alone instead

3. He’s whirlin’ like a leaf, in the wild wind
Wonderin’ where he’ll land
Wishin’ she’d take him back again
But he knows he’s over played his hand
He never showed her that he loved her
He figured she’d just understand

(Chorus)

4. Now she reads him like a book, he blew his cover
All she wants him to do is let her be
And though he says he’ll never, look at another
She just shakes her head and says get off your knees
‘Cause second hand cares are like second hand clothes
They come off easily
Your Second hand cares are like second hand clothes
They come off easily
